very good morning I bid to our lecturer, Miss Sophia and all my fellow friends.
Today, I am going to deliver my speech entitled “How to develop good eating
habits?”
Ladies and
gentlemen,
What
is actually the meaning of good eating habits? Well, the definition of good
eating habits is good eating behaviour that is beneficial to one’s physical or
mental health which is often linked to a high level of discipline and
self-control. All human being needs food to survive. However, people nowadays
lead a hectic lifestyle which causes them to pay less attention on food in
order to stay healthy. So, people tend to surfer from diseases such as
diabetes, heart disease and obesity. In order to stay healthy, we must start
from good eating habits. There are three good eating habits that I am going to
discuss which are eating plenty of fruits and vegetables every day, eating less
unhealthy food and cooking food in a healthier way.
Ladies and
gentlemen,
Now,
let me introduce my first point of good eating habit which is eating plenty of
fruits and vegetables every day. As we all know, fruits such as apples, oranges
and watermelons as well as vegetables such as carrots, green beans and cabbages
contain all types of vitamins which are needed for our health and growth. We
should consume them on our daily basis as meals. In addition, we can eat raw or
drink as juices which can improve our digestive system in order to prevent
constipation. Thus, good eating habit such as eating fruits and vegetables
everyday should be practiced in our daily life.

and gentlemen,
Let me move on to my next point. My next point
is we should consume less unhealthy food especially food that is rich in fats, cholesterol, salts and sugars. For example, all junk food and soft drinks should
be avoided due to poor nutritional value. Regular consumption of such foods can
cause diseases such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer.
Therefore, we should eat white meats such as chicken and fish meats which
contain less fat instead of red meat. Moreover, we should drink more low fat
milk than full cream milk. This is because we can obtain more nutrients that
are beneficial to our health. By applying these eating habits into our daily
life, we can free from any diseases. Therefore, food that is unhealthy should
be less consumed.
My
dear audience,
Last but not the least, let us look at
the next good eating habit that we should practise which is cooking food in a
healthier way. We should use the healthy cooking methods such as steaming or
boiling to cook food. Fried food such as fried chicken which contains more fats
and cholesterol will cause us to get disease such as obesity easily. We should
avoid eating the outer layer of meat cooked either grilling or heating in oven.
It may be exposed to excess oxidation which is harmful to health. If we consume
this kind of food frequently, our health will be greatly affected. For
instance, we may suffer from cancer. Thus, we must cook food in a healthier way
which is also one of the good eating habits.
In conclusion, we must practise all
the three good eating habits such as eating plenty of fruits and vegetables,
eating less unhealthy food and cooking food in a healthier way. By applying
these good eating habits, we can certainly stay away from any diseases.
Actually, good eating habits are only one of the ways to stay healthy.
Therefore, we must start from good eating habits first since we need to eat in
order to survive. Good eating habits will lead to good living. Thus, let us
live healthy in order to live our lives maximally, happily and meaningfully.
This is because we cannot do anything if we suffered from any types of
diseases.
